Flux Ensemble
We are a London-based group of charismatic musicians who bring distinction and energy to everything we do. Whether you want traditional classical music, the pop songs that have sound tracked your romance, or some sweeping film music, our string quartet, other line-ups and writer-arrangers can cater for all your musical needs.
String Quartet
The classic ensemble: two violins, viola and cello. Versatile and proven, equally suited to a garden drinks reception, an intimate concert or the string section of a pop ballad. Our most popular option.
String Duo
Don’t have the space, or the budget, for a quartet? A duo of violin and viola can fit almost anywhere and is still adaptable enough to provide a wide range of music.
Large Ensemble & Bespoke Line-ups
Want to really make a splash with your event, recording or video? We can provide expanded custom ensembles including strings, winds and vocals, up to ‘pocket orchestras’. Contact us to discuss.
Packages
Looking for sophisticated background music and something higher-energy for different phases of your event? Don't want to deal with more different suppliers than necessary? Book Flux Ensemble and Kindred Spirit Duo (playing timeless covers and folk songs with guitar, fiddle and vocals, or ceilidh sets with a caller added) together at a discounted package rate!
Acoustic or Amplified
An acoustic string quartet can fill more space than you probably imagine - we have very successfully played ‘unplugged’ in Southwark Cathedral! But if an extra boost is needed, we can bring amplification equipment and our own PA to give you that same classical sound only louder; all we need is power.
In-house Arranging and Writing
Two of our core members are experienced arrangers. So we’re not dependent on what’s published or available in print; if particular music played by a particular line-up is important to you, it’s important to us and we can make it happen! We can even provide a bespoke commissioned song / piece for your event, through our established working relationship with leading music industry producer / writer Alan D Boyd.
String Arrangements
Want strings on your album, single or even a special live performance? We can add that extra dimension to your project, whether you have a MIDI demo of every note you want or just a demo and the idea of strings on it.
Remote Recording
We’d always recommend you be present in person for recording and filming if possible, to shape exactly what you get in the moment. But if that just isn’t possible, our musicians can record, and film, ourselves from home in professional quality; or we can arrange a session at a studio local to us for your project.
Power
We normally play unplugged, so no power required. If the client feels we need to be amplified, we can bring PA and just need one socket.
Space
Normally we'd say 5m x 2m minimum for the string quartet, can be a bit less for the duo. And a chair each if at all possible! - one seat for the cello is an absolute minimum for quartet, duo can play standing.
